Local businesses benefit from High Street Support Scheme.

Thanks to Redcar & Cleveland's High Street Support Scheme, local businesses are able to develop existing stores and new businesses are attracted to trade in our town centres. Some existing local businesses have received a welcome boost from the scheme. This has helped to improve and enhance their interiors and exteriors. New businesses have also accessed financial assistance from the scheme, enabling them to bring vacant buildings back into use.

Small businesses are making a vital contribution to the growth of our economy and society. We need the support of residents and visitors to get out and shop local. So the only way to help our local town centres to thrive is to use them!

The scheme provides grant funding to improve shops or business units in Redcar and Cleveland town centres.

The High Street Support scheme provides match-funded financing for:

  • Shop frontage works
  • Fittings for existing businesses such as service counters and waiting areas etc
  • Improving security
  • Enhancements to upper floors to bring them back into business use
  • Providing financial support for new businesses to bring vacant units back into use
